The Tropical Smoothie Cafe in the Pike Creek Shopping Center, the first in Delaware, will celebrate its opening by giving a free smoothie each week for a year to the first 50 customers in line by 7 a.m. this Friday.

The new 1,881-square-foot cafe, owned by Steve Modi, Vijay Modi and Jimit Modi, will hold a two-day grand opening Friday and Saturday with special menu deals. The owners will donate 10 percent of their Saturday proceeds to the Mill Creek Fire Company.

“Joining the Tropical Smoothie Café system has proven to be a wise endeavor for us. It is a unique brand, with a bold, fresh, flavorful menu which is what initially attracted us to the business,” said Steve Modi, who plans to open five more Tropical Smoothie franchises soon.

The national chain has more than 600 locations.
