New Castle County hosts series of Earth Month events

New Castle County will host a series of events in partnership with local nonprofits to celebrate Earth Month.

“Every resident can contribute to a cleaner environment,” County Executive Matt Meyer said. “We encourage you to join that effort by participating in one of the many park and watershed cleanup events in our area, including in your own neighborhood park, and invite you to come along for guided trail rides and walks through some of our 247 beautiful County Parks.”

The series kicked off with a tree planting at Rockwood Park carried out by second graders at Mount Pleasant Elementary

Saturday, April 14

Christina River Watershed Cleanup at New Castle County’s Brookhaven Sheffield Manor Park

8 – 11 a.m.

Meet at the end of Green Ridge Road, Wilmington

Organized by the Christina Conservancy & Partnership for the Delaware Estuary

Middle Run Valley Tree Planting

9 a.m. – 12 Noon

Middle Run Valley Natural Area (Meet at field at the intersection of Polly Drummond and Smith Mill Roads.)

Organized by the Delaware Nature Society

Saturday, April 21

Stream Stewards Spring Watershed Cleanup

10 a.m. – 12 Noon

Meet at the Courtyard by Marriott located at 320 Rocky Run Parkway

Organized by The Nature Conservancy

Earth Month Community County Park Cleanup

New Castle County is enlisting residents and civic organizations to help clean up their community parks on April 21 and 22.

Earth Day Group Bike Ride at the New Castle County Middle Run Valley Natural Area

Meet at Jonathan Husband Trailhead in Paper Mill Park

Earth Day Hike at Rockwood Park and Museum

1 – 2 p.m.
