New Castle County to connect youth to summer jobs

New Castle County’s summer youth employment program is underway with application materials now available online at www.newcastlede.gov/syep and two summer job fair application events set for the coming month.

The New Castle County Summer Youth Employment Program is designed to engage low income County residents ages 14-20 in meaningful paid work-based learning that helps them launch their careers.

“This summer we’re offering more summer youth employment than ever before in county history,” said County Executive Matt Meyer. “Complete an application, bring it to one of our summer job fairs on March 9 and March 23 and explore your career path this summer.”

This year’s program, which runs from June 17 through August 23, will be available to more than 200 participants. In 2018, the County’s Summer Youth Employment Program hired 200 youth who were assigned to 74 work sites across New Castle County, including in and around the City of Wilmington.

All interested youth must attend one of the following two New Castle County summer job fairs of their choice:

  • Saturday, March 9, 9 a.m. – 12 noon at Redding Middle School, 201 New Street, Middletown, DE 19709
  • Saturday, March 23, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Garfield Park Community Recreation Center/New Castle PAL, 26 Karyln Drive New Castle, DE 19720
