Negotiation specialist offers tips at Leadership Delaware event

Wilmington, Del. ““ Wharton professor Stuart Diamond shared tips on developing negotiation skills with more than 200 people Thursday morning at an event sponsored by Leadership Delaware.

Diamond, who is author of one of the seminal books on negotiating, “Getting More: How You Can Negotiate to Succeed in Work and Life” stressed that many of the conventional techniques used today were created in the 70s and people need to adjust to the new personal interaction realities.

“Emotions and perceptions are far more important that power and logic in dealing with others,” Diamond said.

He spoke about the 12 tips or tools he has developed for better negotiations in business as well as life and family situations. He has advised corporate leaders from 220 of the Fortune 500 companies, the United Nations, politicians, parents and children.
