Nanticoke Hospital names Penny Short as president
Nanticoke Health Services has announced Penny Short, RN, BSN, as president of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Short will oversee all facets of operations and executive duties for the hospital.
A native of Seaford, Short graduated from Seaford High School in 1980 and pursued a nursing career at Delaware Technical Community College. Her career began at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital 36 years ago. She most recently held the position of chief nursing officer and chief operating officer for Nanticoke.
“Penny has been an integral part of this journey. I could not be more proud to announce her as the next President of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital,” said Steve Rose, RN, MN, CEO of Nanticoke Health Services. “She is an excellent leader, trusted and well respected by everyone with whom she works.”
Short led the hospital to accreditation as the first Primary Stroke Center in Delaware, Level III Trauma Center, ACOS Accredited Cancer Center. She also directed the implementation of Cerner EMR, allowing them to receive Meaningful Use II, HIMSS Level 6 certification, and Hospital Most Wired status for the last three years.
“With over 35 years of experience in healthcare, and having been the leader of clinical operations at the hospital since 2008, Ms. Short was the natural choice to become the next President of Nanticoke,” said David Crouse, chairman of the board of directors. “We have every confidence in her abilities to ensure the next generation of healthcare for our patients. Her commitment to the organization and to the community is evident in everything she does.
