Share

The Next Generation North (Next Gen North), a philanthropic organization of young professionals in northern Delaware, will award grants to local nonprofits at their annual grants ceremony on Thursday.

Nativity Preparatory School in Wilmington will receive $2,500  for textbooks. Barrel of Makers Inc. will receive $3,600 for its series at Delaware libraries. The Delaware Children’s Museum will receive $5,000 for its Junior Engineers program. The Boys & Girls Club of Delaware will receive $5,000 for its Beating Odds Studying Stem program.

Next Gen North leverages the resources of the Delaware Community Foundation, but has its own structure, fundraising projects and grantmaking process. Through the charitable fund established in 2004, Next Gen North has awarded more than $325,000 in grants to support organizations addressing underlying social challenges faced by the most vulnerable Delawareans. This year, Next Gen North is focused on STEM education.

The ceremony is slated Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the University and Whist Club, 805 N. Broom St., Wilmington.
