Millennials, who will make up nearly 75 percent of the global workforce by 2025, seek community, work-life balance and the ability to be “plugged-in” all the time, according to a survey from Oakwood Worldwide, the corporate housing company.
Here’s a snapshot of millennial preferences:
- 74 percent say that technology makes life easier. Millennials have the most positive view of tech among all generations, and they use it for work and for socializing.
- 90 percent regularly check email after work hours.
- 95 percent say that work-life balance is important, and most believe work-life balance is more important than financial rewards.
- 74 percent want support for work flexibility without stigma.
- 64 percent would like to occasionally work from home.
- 66 percent would like to shift their work hours.
- 74 percent prefer to collaborate in small groups for big ideas.
Millennials are highly social, and 90 percent prefer in-person meetings to conference calls, although they are happy with FaceTime meetings as well.
