Wilmington — Wilmington’s new mayor Mike Purzycki took his oath of office at an inauguration event at the Grand Opera House on Tuesday. Council President Hanifa Shabaaz, and new and returning members of City Council were also sworn in during the council’s organizational meeting.
Purzycki is the former executive director of the Wilmington Riverfront Corp. He defeated Wilmington Mayor Dennis P. Williams in November’s general election.
