Medical Society hosts annual 5k Run next month

The Medical Society of Delaware will host its third annual 5k Run/Walk and Health Fair featuring the Make-Your-Own Oatmeal Bowl on Sept. 13 at the Wilmington Riverfront.
The race is scheduled at Dravo Plaza at 9 a.m. It will benefit the society’s Delaware Medical Education Foundation, the charitable organization that supports the medical society’s Campaign for Kids: It’s Obvious. In past years, the race has drawn more than 375 participants.
The campaign focuses on seven critical issues that affect young Delawareans and their families: obesity, bullying, violence, intelligent decision-making, opioid use, underage drinking and suicide prevention.
The 5k event includes a family-friendly health fair with local vendors offering information addressing the seven issues. Each participants will receive a performance t-shirt, a 5k goodie bag and post-race refreshments, including the make-your-own oatmeal bowl.

Participants are encouraged to arrive at 8 a.m. on race day.The course is USATF certified fast and flat. NOVA Timing Systems will utilize chip time using MyLaps bib tags. The event will take place rain or shine.
