ISI’s Christopher Long to step down

GREENVILLE — Christopher Long, leader for the last six years of the Greenville-based national think tank Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), is stepping down Nov. 1 to return to the financial services industry with Glenmede Trust, it was announced Wednesday.
Charles L. “Charlie” Copeland will succeed him. Copeland also chairs the Delaware Republican Party.
Copeland has previously served on the board of ISI and Long will remain on the board, according to officials.
A conservative movement that began more than 60 years ago, ISI is a nonprofit that connects members with professors and leaders in business, politics, and journalism; offers leadership opportunities in on-campus ISI societies and student-run publications; and provides internship and fellowship opportunities, according to its website.
The organization moved to a restored estate overlooking Hoopes Reservoir about 25 years ago from Philadelphia’s Main Line. As a freemarket think tank, ISI has focused primarily on the development of a conservative, even libertarian, point of view in campus dialogues among emerging young leaders.
Long will split his time for Glenmede between Delaware, New York and Naples, FL. Glenmede was founded by the Pew Family heirs to Sun Oil Co. wealth.
