WILMINGTON — Wilmington firefighters joined Iron Hill’s head brewer Justin Sproul to brew a special beer named in honor of their colleagues last month.
“Last Alarm IPA” will be tapped next Tuesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at a day-long fundraiser for the families of local firefighters Jerry Fickes and Lt. Christopher Leach, whose lives were lost battling a blaze on Sept. 24.
Iron Hill will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to Wilmington Fire Department Local 1590.
The session IPA has a subtle malt profile with a burst of citrus and passion fruit flavor and aroma from American hops, the company said.
It will be served alongside smoked beef brisket chili with roasted tomato, cumin, red onion, jalapeno and optional “3-alarm sauce” to up the heat, and firehouse wings.
