A new restaurant that opened recently in Brandywine Hundred has no freezer.

Honeygrow, a salad and stir-fry restaurant, opened in the space once occupied by Hibachi in Brandywine Town Center.

Honeygrow is a scratch kitchen with fresh foods and house-made sauces and dressings, said General Manager David Thornley.

“We’re trying to be farm-to-fork, so we use as much local produce as we can get our hands on and all the proteins we have are humanely raised and hormone-and-antibiotic-free,” he said. “We specialize in really fresh nice salads and stir-fry dishes with noodles.”

The shop features a “honeybar” where patrons can choose their own fresh fruit and top it with local honey, dark chocolate, coconut flakes.

Honeygrow employs 40, both full-and part-time workers. It is the chain’s first store outside the Philadelphia area. The chain was founded by Justin Rosenberg in Philadelphia in 2012 to serve customers who want fresh, responsibly raised foods.  Thornley said the restaurant is set up so that it can serve patrons with almost any food allergy.
