Homes of council members vandalized after ordinance vote

(AP) — Blue streaks have been spray-painted on the homes of two council members in Delaware after they voted for a parking ordinance.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports the homes of New Castle Council President Linda Ratchford and Councilwoman Valarie Leary were spray-painted Monday following the 4-1 passage of Ordinance No. 510 at a council meeting on the same day.
The ordinance established a procedure for creating more parking in the city’s historic district. Passage of the ordinance means the council will not make decisions about the building of future uncovered, ground level public or commercial parking lots.
Ratchford says it’s concerning that there would be vandalism against her house after a council meeting. New Castle police did not return calls for comment Tuesday.
