HARRINGTON — The Harrington Raceway & Casino has signed a multi-year deal with its International Game Technology to upgrade the technology on the casino’s floor.
The Kent County “racino” will deploy the latest version of IGT’s casino management system, IGT ADVANTAGE, which allows players to fund their accounts through a smartphone application without the need to visit a casino cage, ATM or to handle cash.
“IGT ADVANTAGE has been the backbone of our casino for many years, and we’re excited to enter a new era of our systems partnership with IGT via solutions that will help us boost productivity and service, elevate our guests’ play and loyalty and position us for growth,” said Mark Schrecengost, Harrington Raceway & Casino General Manager in a statement.
First launched as a harkness racing track in 1946 and later supported by the casino in 1996, Harrington Raceway & Casino has roughly $6 million in slot machines with 1,327 machines to play, according to Harrington officials. In addition, the casino has table games, simulcating and sports betting as well as an entertainment venue that draws in about 1.5 million people every 10 months.
Full House Resorts financed the casino’s build in 1996, but later ceded daily operations to Harrington Raceway Inc. — a majority-owned company owned by the nonprofit Delaware State Fair — and the agreement expired in 2011.
Harrington Raceway & Casino draws about 1.5 million people every 10 months. In April, it brought in $237,877 from iGaming revenue from $7.9 million worth in wagers, according to the Delaware Lottery. From the video lottery, the casino earned $8.7 million from $106 million in games played that month.
From the 22 tables at the racino, Harrington Raceway & Casino brought in $929,616 in revenue from almost $4 million in wagers.
Under the agreement with IGT, Harrington Raceway & Casino will introduce IGT’s tournament technology, TournXtreme, to offer video slot tournaments. It will also expedite the conversion between cash-in and tournament modes for gaming machines.
IGT will also use its Mobile Host and Mobile Responder apps, which will aid casino property boost its performance and productivity by cutting response times to floor incidents, utilizing real-time slot incident updates delivered to personal mobile devices.
