Gov. Carney on Monday released a uniform anti-discrimination policy that aims to equip state agencies so they can better respond to reports of discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
“This uniform policy will mean better, standardized inclusion and diversity training for state personnel, and will lead to a consistent process for identifying and eliminating discrimination across state government” said Gov. Carney in a statement. “We need to be a leader in creating an inclusive and discrimination-free workplace. While agencies throughout the state had policies addressing discrimination, this statewide policy will ensure that all state employees know where to go if they aren’t being treated fairly.”
The policy sets strict procedures for how an agency must respond to a complaint from an employee. It also establishes that anyone who submits a complaint is protected from retaliation by their superiors.
