Free workshop offers small-business advice

Small business owners are invited to a free small business check-up July 14 to learn about insurance, accounting, preparing for the unexpected and legal issues small businesses often face.

All attendees will receive a free business resiliency workbook.

The check-up, sponsored by the Delaware Small Business Development Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration and hosted by Middletown Mainstreet, will be held in the conference room at the Middletown Mainstreet office at 216 N. Broad Street from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The workshop is free but attendees are asked to register by July 11. To register, call the SBDC at 302-856-1555, register online at https://clients.delawaresbdc.org/workshop.aspx?ekey=10360017 or register by email at cssmall@udel.edu.

Experts will present the following topics:

Legal Issues for Small Businesses – Dominic J. Balascio of Parkway Law, will address important legal issues.

Insurance and Knowing Your Risks – Chuck Montgomery, a State Farm Insurance agent, will discuss business insurance issues.

Accounting and QuickBooks — Eric MacCollum, a C.P.A. with Williams Humphreys & Company, will discuss small businesses’ accounting needs.
