MIDDLETOWN – Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is expanding to Delaware, it’s 44th state, with a new family-owned store planned in Middletown.
Dickey’s, a fast-casual chain, was founded in 1941. The chain’s motto is “We speak barbecue.”
The franchise owner for Middletown is Brendan Powers, who grew up in Delaware and spent 25 years in the military before he retired and bought the franchise. He will run the business with his wife Linda and his sons BJ and Trevor.

“I wanted to do something that my family and I could do together, and Dickey’s gave us the perfect opportunity to do that,” Powers said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to serve my community delicious, slow-smoked barbecue.”
