(AP) — A former bank loan officer has pleaded guilty in a case involving a Maryland doctor charged with conspiring to commit bank fraud and making false statements on loan applications.

Forty-seven-year-old Tae H. Kim of Wayne, Pennsylvania, was accused of conspiring to engage in fraudulent activity with Zahid Aslam of Elkton, Maryland, an OB-GYN who also has medical practices in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Kim pleaded guilty Monday to a Delaware charge of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and a Maryland charge of attempted bank fraud.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 11. Kim faces a maximum of 60 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Aslam recruited two associates as straw borrowers for loans for which he would not qualify and concealed his relationship with Kim from WSFS and Citibank.
