WILMINGTON — Securities and corporate law firm Halloran Farkas + Kittila LLP (HFK) recently brought on former Delaware Attorney General Jane Brady as a corporate law partner, marking the start of a next act in her distinguished career. Brady served as the state’s top legal officer from 1995 to 2005 during the time of then-Governor Tom Carper and Gov. Ruth Ann Minner when the Delaware Democrats were starting to gain momentum in state positions. She was the first woman elected in Delaware to the position and was later appointed as a judge of the Superior Court where she oversaw criminal and civil matters throughout the state. “While I was on the bench, I decided to get my MBA. Business has always interested me,” Brady told the Delaware Business Times. “Ted [Firm founding member and managing partner Theodore Kittila] had shared some of the cases he was working on and I found them interesting. I have extensive litigation experience, and look forward to being back in a courtroom.” Her legal career spans almost 50 years with roles such as deputy Attorney General, chief prosecutor for Sussex County and attorney in a private practice. After her three terms as Attorney General, she was appointed to first the New Castle County Superior Court by Minner in 2005 and later reassigned to the superior court in Sussex County. Brady has also built a name in the state Republican Party and had served as chairwoman for Delaware Republican Party until last year. She met Kittila through her work in politics, as Kittila had run for state Senate in a special election in 2022. Brady also serves as the chair for A Better Delaware, a policy and political advocacy organization where she authors many opinion pieces on education, energy and the economy. HFK is a boutique firm that has four offices in Greenville, New York City, Miami and Jackson, Wyo. that focuses on sophisticated securities and corporate law matters. From their office in a 1820s-era house on Kennett Pike, the firm’s Delaware office handles complex commercial litigation cases. HFK has five attorneys based in Delaware, including Brady and the founder Kittila. Kittila established the firm in 2017 when he joined with Michael Halloran who served as the counsel to the chairman of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and intellectual property lawyer Peter Farkas. Farkas died in 2022.
