The Food Bank of Delaware is asking for the community’s help in collecting money and food items to create 2,500 Thanksgiving-meal boxes for families in need.
The food bank encourages businesses, schools, community groups and faith-based organizations to organize food drives.
Food for the boxes must be received by November 13. The food bank will pick up donations from groups that collect more than 20 bags or boxes of food. Donations of fewer than 20 bags or boxes can be dropped off at the food bank’s Newark facility at 14 Garfield Way between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or at it’s Milford facility at 1040 Mattlind Way during the same hours.
Donors may also drop off donations at DART First State’s Stuff the Bus event on November 10-13.
The bus will be at Walmart at 939 N. Dupont Hwy, Milford and the Acme in North Dover Center from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on November 10. It will visit Fairfax Shopping Center on Route 202 in North Wilmington on November 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be parked on the Market Street side of Rodney Square from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 12 and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 13.
iHeart Media’s 17th Annual Turkey Round Up is another opportunity for donors to drop off monetary donations, frozen turkeys and nonperishable foods on November 12 and 13 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Food Lions at 1607 Pulaski Hwy. in Bear, 501 W. Main St. in Middletown and 1030 Forest Ave. in Dover.
