DuPont will debut its new generation of stretchable electronic inks and films for smart clothing today at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, Utah. The materials are being introduced along with a new brand called DuPont Intexar.

Intexar clothing collects biometric data through ordinary fabrics, tracking heart rate, breathing rate, form awareness and muscle tension.

Available as a suite of stretchable electronic inks and flexible substrates, Intexar sensors are embedded directly into fabric using standard apparel manufacturing techniques. The circuits weave seamlessly into the clothing and can endure over 100 washes.

Dupont will display two smart clothing garments at the Summer Market, including a smart fitness shirt commercially available in China that enables real-time monitoring of heart rate, breathing and muscle movement and a high-end sports bra that captures real time ECG, respiration and physical activity.
