Main Street Wilmington and Downtown Visions celebrated the removal of a roll-down security gate from a vacant storefront on 2nd and Market streets.
The removal was funded by a grant from Main Street Wilmington’s Facade Improvement Program, which aims to beautify downtown Wilmington as more residents and businesses move into the city.
Cities across the country have worked to clear the unflattering steel gates from streets experiencing a drop in crime and an upswing in commercial activity.
