Downtown Visions today is holding a grand opening celebration for the Downtown Farmers Market in Rodney Square.
Mayor Mike Purzycki and Downtown Visions Executive Director Martin Hageman and other local officials will kick off the event.
Downtown Visions, the nonprofit managing the Wilmington Business Improvement District, has operated the farmers market for the last 16 years. This year, the market officially opened May 2 and will run until October 31.
Returning vendors include Sorbello Girls Farm Market, Bright Spot Farms, Outlandish, Mama Mia, and I Don’t Give a Fork. New arrivals include Rocker Soaps and Riverfront Pets.
Produce sold at the market comes largely from small and family-owned farms in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
