Domino’s Pizza is smoothing the way for delivery drivers and take-out customers by repairing potholes in communities throughout the U.S.
Municipalities can apply through the Domino’s website for the assistance. In Milford, Delaware, the company fixed 40 potholes along 10 roads since the beginning of spring.
The pizza chain aims to improve conditions for those driving with a pizza in the passenger or backseats. Indeed, Domino’s received criticism in the past – before a 2010 reorganization – that its pizza often arrived in less than ideal condition.
A sudden bump in the road can mean cheese and toppings sticking to the cardboard or ingredients sliding to one side of the box.
“Potholes, cracks, and bumps in the road can cause irreversible damage to your pizza during the drive home from Domino’s,” Domino’s stated on the nomination page. “We can’t stand by and let your cheese slide to one side, your toppings get un-topped, or your boxes get flipped.”
Other communities can apply for the service through Domino’s website.The company has also filled potholes in Burbank, California and Bartonville, Texas.
