Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will open its first Delaware location in Newark today.
Brendan and Linda Powers with their two sons, BJ and Trevor, are the franchise owners.
“Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has been a family run business since it opened in 1941,” says Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. “We are thrilled to have the Powers family join the Dickey’s family in serving their community authentic, Texas-style barbecue.”

As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Brendan Powers looked to open a franchise after retirement. “Dickey’s was the perfect fit for my family’s first franchise,” he said.
The new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Newark is located at 2832 Pulaski Highway.
