DEWEY BEACH Dewey Beer Company is opening a new taproom in Denver, Colo., marking its fourth location and first expansion out of Delaware. The new location, at 3501 Delgany Street, will have a soft opening on Jan. 25.

“We love the beer community in Colorado and the outdoors and mountain lifestyle as much as we love our beach community. We wanted to bridge the beach to the mountains and enjoy all the adventures both cultures have to offer,” Dewey Beer Company representative Matt Lindy told Delaware Business Times.

The Delaware-based brewpub has been distributing beer to the Rocky Mountain State with wholesale partner Colorado Craft Distributors since 2022.

The Denver location in the River North Arts District was previously home to Mockery Brewery. After hearing of Mockery Brewery’s closure in August 2023, Dewey Beer worked with Mockery to use the space to host a pop-up during the Great American Beer Festival, the oldest beer competition in America.

“The pop-up during the Great American Beer Festival was fantastic, it was exciting and sparked the drive to pursue this as a potential permanent Dewey Beer taproom,” Lindy said.

As part of its expansion, the Denver site will operate as a production facility and offer exclusive beers. The new taproom will offer a range of beverages, including IPAs, lagers, and fruit smoothie beers.

In 2015, Scot Kaufman, Mike Reilly, and Brandon Smith opened the Dewey Beer Company in downtown Dewey Beach. The second location in Harbeson opened in 2021, serving as a production facility and a taproom, capable of brewing up to 12,000 barrels annually, with potential expansion to reach up to 25,000 barrels.

“If you’re headed to the mountains on a ski or snowboard trip, or find yourself in the Denver area we’d be thrilled to see familiar faces from the Delaware beaches. For craft beer and food fans the neighborhood we’re located in, RiNo Arts District, offers a walking tour of many breweries and restaurants as well as amazing art installations,” Lindy said.

A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24.
