In 2018, Delmarva Power purchased $91 million in goods and services from diversity-certified suppliers. That accounts for 22 percent of the power company’s annual purchases, and marks an $8 million increase from the year prior.

“We have an absolute commitment to advancing the communities we serve, including engaging local diverse suppliers to support our business needs,” said Dave Velazquez, president and CEO, Pepco Holdings, which includes Delmarva Power. “We continue to see real value from our focus on diversity and inclusion in everything we do. From improvements in reliability, customer satisfaction, and internal operations to our community and economic impact, our customers continue to benefit from our efforts to bring a wide range of views and approaches to the table.”

Delmarva Power parent company Exelon increased spending with women- and minority-owned businesses by more than 200 percent since 2011, reaching more than $2.2 billion in 2018. Exelon is a member of the Billion Dollar Roundtable, an advocacy organization that promotes corporate supplier diversity excellence.

As part of Delmarva Power’s efforts to expand its procurement efforts with local women- and minority-owned businesses, the company established Target 25 in 2017. Target 25 provides diversity-certified vendors an opportunity to learn more about Delmarva Power’s processes.
