Delmar is getting a new library after 10 years of seeking funds

Delmar Public Library is holding a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, April 24 for its new building. Plans for the facility went back as far back as 2007, with the tiny library struggling to secure financing for years.

In 2015, NCALL Loan Fund provided a construction line of credit loan in the amount of $3.5 million. The NCALL Loan Fund finances projects for the development of affordable housing, community facilities and neighborhood revitalization.

The Bank of Delmarva and M&T Bank also provided financing.

“We were happy to work with the library and assist with funding for the project,” said Karen Kollias, NCALL Loan Fund Director. “It’s a beautiful, welcoming building, and a great place for people of all ages to learn, read and explore.”
