DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware transportation officials are seeking public comment on a proposed update for road projects over the next six years.

The proposed Capital Transportation Program for fiscal years 2017 through 2022 was to be released Tuesday at a meeting of the state Council on Transportation.

In adopting the current six-year plan earlier this year, officials noted that there is an ever increasing demand on available funding to maintain Delaware’s transportation system in good repair.

Officials also noted that 45 projects in the current plan had lost funding in at least one phase of the project, and that more resources are needed to keep up with aging infrastructure.

State lawmakers raised motor vehicle taxes and fees this year to generate about $24 million annually to help pay for road maintenance and construction.
