Delaware Tech brings career training to Wilmington Riverfront

Delaware Tech on Tuesday opened a new space inside Junior Achievement of Delaware, a work readiness nonprofit located near the Wilmington Riverfront. The room will host financial literacy classes for local students and introduce students to Delaware Tech courses such as culinary arts, aviation maintenance and paramedics.
Delaware Tech’s curriculum is part of a larger project that teaches personal finance planning and career exploration to middle and high school students. Following the teacher-led program, students put their knowledge to the test in a realistic, on-site community called Finance Park.
“We designed our space to be engaging and interactive for students,” said Dr. Mark Brainard, president of Delaware Tech. “We wanted to show students that college is an option for everyone by highlighting the SEED program that provides free college tuition for Delaware high school students.”
Delaware Tech and Junior Achievement collaborated on the design of the room.
