WILMINGTON — The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s (DSCC) Delaware Principal for a Day program will begin its 22nd year on Monday, October 24, with all 19 Delaware school districts participating.

Open to all Delaware public, private, parochial and charter schools, the program is coordinated by DSCC’s education affiliate, The Partnership, Inc. and will run until October 28. Over 120 community leaders, business people and elected officials have registered to experience a day in the life of a principal at over 130 schools statewide.

Since 1993, the Delaware Principal for a Day program has brought the business and education communities together through this fun and insightful week. Both the Chamber and The Partnership are committed to building strong public-private partnerships throughout Delaware in order to share best practices while developing the workforce of tomorrow.

Guest principals are expected to arrive in the morning to greet students as a typical school day begins. They will spend at least a half-day participating in such activities as bus duty, meetings with parents, teachers or student government, visiting classrooms, performing cafeteria duty, addressing student issues, and discussing topics like budget management and workforce development with faculty and administrative staff.

2016 guest principals include:
US Senator Tom Carper, Christiana High School, Newark
Senator Ernie Lopez, H.O. Brittingham Elementary School, Milton
Senator Brian Pettyjohn, Sussex Central High School, Georgetown
Major General Francis D. Vavala, St. Georges Technical High School, Middletown
DSCC President Rich Heffron, St. Edmond’s Academy, Wilmington
Brian DiSabatino, Cedar Lane Elementary School, Middletown
Greg Sawka, Brandywine High School, Wilmington
Mark Stellini, Hanby Elementary School, Wilmington
Mark Brainard, Delcastle Technical High School, Wilmington
Chip Rossi, Cab Calloway School of the Arts, Wilmington

There are still openings and potential principals are encouraged to sign-up at www.dscc.com, where they will be able to select from a list of remaining schools. All parties are invited to share their stories and experiences on the Delaware Principal for a Day Facebook page.
