DOVER, Del. (AP) — The scenery at Delaware beaches this summer will include more than sun, sand and swimsuits.

State parks and recreation officials are offering local businesses the opportunity to promote their businesses in advertisements posted on lifeguard stands.

Starting Monday, businesses are able to purchase space on lifeguard stands at Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore State Park beaches, and Fenwick Island. The water park lifeguard stands at Killens Pond State Park also are part of the program.

Officials say the ad program, now in its third year, helps pay for park operating expenses.

Cost of the ads range from $300 to $900. The signs will be visible from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
