WILMINGTON — Widener University Delaware Law School announced its paralegal program has been named to the 2016-17 Best Paralegal Schools list published by AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org.
The ranking places the program under the category of four-year schools. The Widener program was ranked 39 out of 49 schools.
AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org determined rankings based on a scoring system that weighed factors including cost, financial aid, number of program offerings, student-teacher ratios, graduation rates, placement and support services, academic and career counseling services, employment services and more.
At Widener, students study for their degrees at Delaware Law School through its Graduate, International, Compliance & Legal Studies program. They have access to practicing legal professionals and the full law library. They take part in graduation ceremonies at Widener University in Chester, Pa., which confers their degrees.
The paralegal program is approved by the American Bar Association. It offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, as well as a general certificate in paralegal studies. Concentrations are available in corporate law, criminal law, litigation, health law, estate administration law and intellectual property law.
“The paralegal program through Delaware Law School is an outstanding opportunity for people who want a career in the law without the full law degree. Paralegal professionals are an indispensable part of the legal community and provide valuable services at major law firms, smaller law offices and even through independent and corporate operations. We are proud of this program and grateful for the recognition,” said Assistant Dean Eileen Grena-Piretti, who directs the Graduate, International, Compliance & Legal Studies program.
