Delaware Innovation Space welcomes ACROBiosystems to Experimental Station

Delaware Innovation Space, Inc., the nonprofit incubator for startups, hosted a ribbon cutting event to welcome ACROBiosystems, the first business to occupy space at the site. The company is a manufacturer of recombinant proteins to support cancer research and will occupy 1,000 square feet of lab space.
“This is a proof point that we’re making a difference,” said William D. Provine, president and CEO of Delaware Innovation Space, a private-public partnership between DuPont, the State of Delaware, and the University of Delaware. Provine added that entrepreneurs and small companies with scalability and staying power are critical to Delaware’s growth.
ACROBiosystems president and CEO Mike Chen launched the company in China in 2010. In 2013, he opened space in the Delaware Technology Park, before opening additional offices in San Jose, CA, St. Louis, MO, Shanghai, and Boston, MA.
With more than 160 employees, the company has expanded its research capabilities and product lines. It works with 2,000 customers from more than 60 countries, according to Chen.
“ACROBiosystems is a perfect example of the type of companies that we want to keep in Delaware, so I applaud them for partnering with us,” said Provine. “We know how to grow science-based industry in Delaware, it’s time to give smaller companies a chance.”
