Delaware Hotel and Lodging Association honors industry standouts

Denis Dowse, winner of Hotelier of the Year, and his team from Homewood Suites of Brandywine.

The Delaware Hotel and Lodging Association last week held its 2018 “Stars of the Industry” award ceremony at the Embassy Suites in Newark.

The annual awards honor hotel employees, managers and community supporters of the industry in several categories.

Hotelier of the Year, which honors general managers, went to Denis Dowse of Homewood Suites Brandywine

Gerry Frenze of Delaware Express won Allied/Associated Member of the Year, which goes to members who make a meaningful contribution to the association itself. Cassandra Connell of Hilton Christiana won Manager of the Year, a category for other managerial positions.

Housekeeper of the Year went to Hilda Rodriguez of Homewood Suites Newark. Front-of-the-House Employee of the Year went to Kyle Welch of Hampton Inn Christiana. Heart-of-the-House Employee of the Yearwent to Garland Eutler of Westin Wilmington Hotel

Legislator of the Year went to State Rep. Gerald Brady, D-Wilmington West, of the 4th Representative District
