Scott W. Loehr, CEO of the Delaware Historical Society since 2011, has resigned to become CEO of the National Museum of the Might Eighth Air Force in Savannah, Ga.
“The Delaware Historical Society has been fortunate to have Loehr’s professional expertise during a time of great expansion, and we are sorry to see him go, but he leaves a strong and healthy organization,” Board Chair Alison K. Hoagland said.
In the past seven years, under Loehr’s leadership, the Delaware Historical Society undertook a $7 million capital campaign, re-worked the Delaware History Museum, reopened Old Town Hall, and established the Mitchell Center for African American Heritage.
Loehr will remain with the Delaware Historical Society through November 3, when Assistant CEO Michele Anstine will become acting CEO.
The trustees will begin a search for a new CEO immediately.
