Wallethub used an elaborate methodology to make the rankings, measuring both the economic and political influence of the gun industry on a given state.

Some of the variables included: the number of people employed by the firearms industry, the number of firearms dealers per capita, and the number of firearms manufacturers per capita. As for politics, the analysis measured contributions to congressional members for either gun control or gun rights legislation.

Delaware scored low across the board and ranked among the lowest five states in gun ownership, gun industry output, and firearms industry jobs.
