Workplace: Nurse Next Door
Until 2013, many elderly citizens in Delaware were unaware of Nurse Next Door, a Canadian-based franchise system that offers private home care to seniors. Then Tiffany Rubin started a branch in Dover, which now serves hundreds of clients with a focus on “Happier Aging.” An entrepreneur at heart, Rubin was able to take her registered nursing degree and leave her former areas of experience – including the cardiac care department and intensive care unit at Kent General Hospital – and focus on home health nursing. As a franchisee, the Pennsylvania native (but Delaware resident) has utilized her strengths of developing and optimizing methods of care and her knack for bedside manner into a 2014 Nurse Next Door Rookie of the Year Award. Her company employs a staff of 80.
When she is not assisting patients or running her business, Rubin works with VISION, a local networking group dedicated to helping entrepreneurs succeed. She has served as a volunteer coach for the Caesar Rodney High School Field Hockey team. Between 2014-2015, she also served as an ambassador for the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.
