“Balancing’ is pretty difficult because you cannot evenly distribute all responsibilities at all times; sometimes work needs more, sometimes home needs more. Work/life integration is a bit more realistic but taking time to disappear – really disappear – is absolutely necessary and OK, even though I continue to struggle with that.”

Your advice for the next generation:

“Don’t ever let yourself be put at the “˜kids table.’ There is a lot of work to be done and your unique point of view and unique set of experiences are valued and important to completing that work.”
