TITLE: Vice President, Customer Strategy
COMPANY: TD Bank
CITY: Wilmington
What the nominator said: “Dan Walsh is a banking leader with more than 15 years of experience and won the top marketing award for Innovation & Operational Excellence in 2015. He founded Supporting Kidds’ most successful annual fund-raiser, “Mustaches for Kidds,” in 2009, which has raised $500,000 to date. He has touched many live through his positive community service and his enthusiasm and love of life are contributing factors to his ever-expanding circle of friends.
Social media platform you can’t live without: Facebook. Crowdsourced information has enabled my neighborhood, Midtown Brandywine, to share and look out for one another. If there is a problem, we don’t have to wait for communication to be cycled through the old channels; now everyone is empowered to make a difference.
Your biggest break: Joining the marketing team at TD Bank. TD truly is the human bank, with a reputation for legendary customer service and a reputation as a community leader. I have been in banking for 16 years and have never worked with a better group of people.
Two words that best describe you: Principled and accountable.
Work/life balance technique you recommend: Get organized. Managing variability is always difficult, but it is impossible when your life is in disarray. I need to be organized so I can manage what I cannot control.
If you were in charge of Delaware: I’d introduce state-sponsored, pre-K education. Children need a safe, disciplined and dependable path before they enter the public school system. Opportunities for these children should be universal and not constrained to the family’s financial means.
