Title: Development & Communications Manager
Workplace: Project New Start
Anyone who’s met Avie Silver knows what kind of effect her personality and boundless energy can have on people. Since leaving the for-profit world of publishing, Silver has embarked on a more philanthropic use of her talents, as board member and development and communications manager for Project New Start. The program’s mission is to create programs and partnerships that assist individuals transitioning out of incarceration to regain their dignity and contribute positively to their families and communities.
A firm believer in the Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Silver strives to meet what she feels is a responsibility to help others achieve their own positive futures. She is a 2016 member of Leadership Delaware, won the Team Award for generating $1.3 million for the American Heart Association’s Philadelphia Heart Walk in 2010, and has served as a board member for the Technology Forum of Delaware, the Delaware Community Foundation’s Next Gen North, and is involved with the Jewish Family Services of Delaware.
