What the nominator said: “Andrew Truscott’s accomplishments at the Delaware Theatre Company are impressive. Since his arrival in 2012, DTC has experienced a 52 percent growth in individual donations, a 92 percent growth in subscribers, and a 375 percent growth in single ticket buyers. In January of 2016, Andrew was awarded the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Gold Medallion, which is awarded to individuals or organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to the teaching and producing of theatre and who have significantly dedicated their time, artistry, and enthusiasm.”

Your biggest break: Taking the risk to leave a corporate position to work for a nonprofit. The opportunities I’ve been provided since have been life-changing.

Best career advice you ever got: The worst that anyone can say is no. Stop worrying what they’ll say, and just ask. You’ll survive.

Two words that best describe you: Passionate and perceptive.

Work/life balance technique you recommend: Leave work at work. Life is too short to bring work home.

If you were in charge of Delaware: I would ensure that students have an opportunity to experience the arts throughout all levels of education.

In one sentence, define “success.” Success is waking up every morning to do what you love, with people you admire, for the greater good of society.
