Share
AGE: 29
TITLE: Community Manager
COMPANY: 1313 Innovation
CITY: Wilmington
What the nominator said: Megan is tirelessly driving every day toward innovating how the people of Wilmington think about entrepreneurship. She has effectively build up and led 1313 Innovation to be one of – if not the – best co-working spaces in the tristate area.”
Social media platform you can’t live without: If I had to choose, I’d pick Instagram. I love that there’s a visual element to every post and that you have more characters to use than Twitter. I may or may not follow some ridiculously funny accounts on Instagram as well.
Best career advice you ever got: The best advice I’ve ever received is, “Fake it until you make it.” Basically, have confidence that you can do something even if you haven’t tried it before. I think it’s important to remember that everyone is scared to try something new, so it’s important to be easy on yourself, give it your best, and give yourself the chance to succeed. You have to be an amateur before you can be an expert.
Two words that best describe you: Creative and passionate.
If you were in charge of Delaware: I’m a fan of the Live. Work. Play. initiative in Wilmington. I think emphasizing the fun aspect, by having more bars and restaurants that are open later, would have a huge impact on keeping younger professionals in the city to stay and grow with Wilmington and Delaware as a whole.
In one sentence, define “success.” Success is loving what you do so much that you can’t understand why other people look forward to retiring.
