Your biggest break: When I was 23, we brought on our first bank with multiple branches. They took a risk on us and helped continue to double our client base three times over the course of three years.

Best career advice you ever got: In business, what goes around comes around. If you do right by a client and make things work, the payback is usually two-fold.

Your biggest challenge: Age was my biggest challenge in the beginning. I was a 21-year-old getting into banking and merchant services and most of my competitors had more than 20 years in experience alone. I won the business through hard work and excellent customer service.

How you give back: I am a Chamber of Commerce board member and started and chair the Young Professional Committee. I also teach and serve on the entrepreneurship board at DelTech. It is important for me to see other young entrepreneurs succeed or even try and fail. The more young people we can get opening business in Sussex County, the better growth we can see in what I consider one of the best places to live and work.

Networking group you use the most: The Chambers of Commerce. We are a member of eight different chambers and all of them have their ups and downs, but as far as business-to-business networking, I recommend joining a chamber to anyone.

Work-life balance technique you recommend: First, enjoy work and surround yourself with people who you enjoy working with. You should not have to balance life with work as much when you love coming to work. That being said, take the slow days and escape for a day to the beach. As an entrepreneur, I often worry about the slow days as I feel I have to get busier, but if it’s slow, I try and escape for an afternoon.
