Without Diane’s vision, creativity and persistence, the Delaware Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society‘s Student of the Year Campaign would never have been introduced to the Delaware market. In the end, compared to the other pilot chapters in the Mid-Atlantic region (including Philadelphia and Baltimore), the Delaware Chapter was recognized as achieving the highest gross revenue for a new campaign.

Social media you can’t live without: Professionally and personally, Facebook is the one and only social media tool I use to keep up with family, friends, and volunteers, mostly so I can follow what’s happening in their lives and support them.

Your biggest break: Being asked to introduce the Student of the Year campaign in the Delaware Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been one of the most exciting and rewarding opportunities to date. In a large national organization like LLS, most campaigns have well-established best practices; with this new campaign, I got to be creative and help develop some of the new best practices, which are being used as the campaign spreads to other chapters nationwide.

Best career advice you ever got: Seek out mentors both personally and professionally who can help you see past your current situation and ask you the tough questions. Then be intentional about mentoring others to keep you humble and help you to grow as a leader.

5 Tips on Hosting a Next-Level Event at the Reimagined Chase Center

The newly redesigned Chase Center on the Riverfront is setting a new standard for corporate events, offering a modern, elegant, and illuminating space for meetings, conferences,...

How you give back: I am extremely fortunate that the very nature of my job allows me to serve patients, their families and volunteers who are passionate about finding the cure for blood cancers. I also feel that in whatever capacity I am serving outside of my job – in my church, networking groups, or other community activities – it is my responsibility to be offering whatever skills I may possess to get the job done.

Your biggest challenge: Multi-tasking at work and home is my biggest challenge.

Networking group you use the most: The Delaware Community Foundation’s Next Generation (NextGen) offers young professionals the opportunity to learn how to be more effective board members, fundraise, grant funds to local organizations, and build connections in the Delaware community.

Work-life balance technique you recommend: When you don’t need to be working, set boundaries and be faithful to recharging.
