When athletes arrive for their stay at the Crowne Plaza Wilmington North on Naamans Road in Claymont, they find the lobby decorated with their team’s colors and logos and mascots.
As part of a new marketing plan, the hotel welcomes them with a table full of water bottles and snacks featuring their team colors.
The Crowne Plaza also offers private areas for coaches’ meetings and team meetings and a post-game dinner that accommodates players’ training diets.
“We’ve stayed at a lot of hotels for our away games, and we’ve never had the kind of first-class treatment that Crowne Plaza Wilmington North delivered. The greetings and attention that we received, the meeting areas that our players and coaches were able to use, and the ability for us to eat at the hotel and not have to travel to off-premises restaurants made everything easier for the players and coaches, and totally eliminated any stress during our four- day stay,” said Tom Glynn, men’s basketball coach at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts.
