ELKTON, Md.— ChristianaCare has added a cardiology practice to its Maryland network, adding yet another service to the state after acquiring a hospital there three years ago.
ChristianaCare Cardiology Consultants will operate out of an existing space on 137 W. High St. in Elkton. The practice welcomes one cardiologist, Dr. Erik Marshall and nurse practitioner Pauline Cousineau to the practice.

With the Elkton practice, ChristianaCare Cardiology has now practice locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
ChristianaCare Cardiology will see hospital patients with any cardiovascular problems needing attention and will make appropriate referrals to other cardiovascular experts as needed, pulling from the extensive network of specialists associated with ChristianaCare.
In addition, the practice will conduct and oversee a variety of cardiac diagnostic studies ranging from electrocardiogram interpretation to exercise stress testing and echocardiographic tests.
“As the practice grows, we intend to place more providers on site to satisfy the demand for services,” ChristianaCare Cardiology Chair and Medical Director of the Center for Heart & Vascular Health Kirk Garratt said.
The cardiology practice will use the latest guidelines for care, including state-of-the-art equipment. Diagnostic testing services include echocardiography, Holter monitoring, electrocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing and nuclear stress testing.
ChristianaCare had acquired the 72-bed Union Hospital from neighboring Cecil County in 2020, as part of its first step to expand hospital services across state lines. At the time, ChristianaCare had two hospital campuses in northern Delaware, a freestanding emergency department in Middletown and primary care offices in Southern New Jersey.
Now ChristianaCare has added another hospital in Southern Pennsylvania and eight new practices in Delaware and the Keystone State. Three other primary care practices have been added in Maryland.
In all, ChristianaCare has 1,180 employees who work in Maryland.
