Dan Rattay of CB Richard Ellis has been named Harvey, Hanna & Associates’ 2016 Broker of the Year — in a year when Harvey, Hanna leased 590,000 square feet of new space.
The Newport development company honors a commercial real estate broker who has worked with them each year. It is the fourth time Rattay earned the title in the past five years.
Rattay was instrumental in bringing Hermann Total Distribution Services, a major distribution hub, to New Castle. He leased the family-owned, fourth-generation company 125,000 square feet of warehouse, office, and distribution space at 350 Anchor Mill Drive at the Twin Spans Business Park in New Castle.
At Newport Industrial Park, he brought New Genzyme Inc., a manufacturer of soy-based food-grade products, to a 31,000-square-foot facility at 500 Water Street.

Hanna. “ Our firm was fortunate to have leased almost 600,000 square feet of space in 2016, and Dan played a significant role in our success.”
Harvey Hanna leased 590,000 square feet of new space last year, and extended leases for more than 207,899 square feet.
The company is a managing partner in Dewey Beach Enterprises’ Hyatt Place Hotel in Dewey Beach, named the best hotel in Sussex County by Coastal Style magazine.
Two phases of the company’s condominium project at The Residences of Lighthouse Cove in Dewey are sold out, and 27 bayside units are under construction for spring delivery. Eight of those are already sold.
Total new employment at the entire Lighthouse Cove Resort in Dewey is projected to be 500 full-time jobs by 2019.
At their Twin Spans Business Park in New Castle, major new tenants last year ,in addition to Hermann, included Anchor Plastics’ 21,000-square-foot facility; Choctaw-Kaul Distribution’s 104,000-square-foot facility, where construction safety gear and equipment are manufactured and distributed; the 35,000-square-foot Delaware Skills Center, and Pride Garden Products’ 63,000-square-foot facility for manufacturing garden containers. The Speakman Company renewed its 83,000-square-foot facility lease.
The Delaware River Industrial Park on Lambson Lane in New Castle is the new home of American Driver Training Academy, which leased 5,000 square feet, and Vertical Forward, a supplier of Warrior jeans that took 9,600 square feet. Mid-Atlantic Fulfillment renewed its lease on 15,000 square feet and National Roll Kote, makes of rubber elastomer products, renewed its for 24,000 square feet.
At Creekwood Corporate Center, the Social Security Administration renewed its lease on 30,000 square feet, and Mumford & Miller Concrete took 2,300 square feet at 910 Basin Road.
Tile Market of Delaware added 5,500 square feet to its 68,000-square-foot showroom at Newport Industrial Park.
