Robert Brinck was selected to be the port engineer for the Delaware Bay ferry service. Brinck serves as the port engineer for the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. He manages and directs the ferry service’s marine mechanics and marine engineers and is responsible for determining priorities and establishing plans to ensure that the ferry vessels are operated and maintained in accordance to regulatory requirements, company standards and customer expectations.
Women Presidents’ Organization welcomes Silicato as newest member
Katherine L. Silicato is the newest member of the Wilmington chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO), a peer advisory group for women entrepreneurs of privately held, multimillion-dollar companies.
Silicato has been with Gunnip & Company since 1994. She is a partner in the firm’s assurance practice, focusing on audit services for companies, employee benefit plans, nonprofits and government organizations.
In monthly WPO meetings across the world, women from diverse industries invest time and energy in themselves and their businesses to drive their corporations to the next level.
Kessler named counsel at Danneman Firm
Stephen M. Kessler has joined the The Danneman Firm as director of title operations and senior counsel. Kessler will work out of firm’s Washington office.
Kessler brings experience in commercial real estate law, title expertise and business transactions. He has represented large and small companies, government agencies and institutions in financings, development and acquisitions, low income housing tax credit transactions, leasing, zoning and land use.
Kessler is a member of the bar in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and served on the board of directors of Goodwill of Delaware and Girls Inc.
Christiana Care announces executive appointments
Edmondo Robinson has been named chief transformation officer at Christiana Care Health System. In this new role, Dr. Robinson will have responsibility for transformation of health-care delivery as Christiana Care advances its population health initiatives and moves from volume-based to value-based care.
He will work closely with service line and essential services leadership as well as other internal and external partners to meet our strategic goals of optimal health, exceptional experience and organizational vitality with a focus on innovation. He will continue to have clinical oversight of the Wilmington campus on an interim basis.
Bettina Tweardy Riveros was named chief health equity officer, responsible for furthering Christiana Care’s efforts in diversity and inclusion and strategically engaging community stakeholders in partnerships. She will also help guide the health system’s health policy agenda.
Doug Azar was named senior vice president of The Medical Group of Christiana Care and network operations. In this new role, he is responsible for operational leadership of its employed-physician practices and guides its population health and accountable care strategies.
Two promoted at Delaware State
Jasmine Buxton has been appointed as associate vice president of student affairs at Delaware State University. She will oversee the Wellness and Recreation Center, as well as the departments of Student Leadership and Activities, and Spiritual Life.
Buxton has worked at several universities throughout her 10-year career, including most recently at Bowling Green University, where she served as the assistant dean of students.
Terrell Holmes has been appointed as the interim associate vice president of enrollment management. He will oversee student financial aid services, as well as the offices of the registrar and admissions.
Holmes has been with the DSU Office of the Registrar since 2005, serving as associate registrar and then registrar.
Targett named to DPPI Board of Trustees
The Delaware Public Policy Institute (DPPI) has elected University of Delaware administrator Nancy Targett to its board of trustees.
A member of the UD faculty since 1984, Targett has served as dean of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE) and director of the Delaware Sea Grant College Program since 2005. A nationally recognized expert on ocean issues, Dr. Targett is immediate past chair of the Board of Trustees of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership and immediate past treasurer of the Sea Grant Association, a national network of 32 Sea Grant College Programs. She has served on the Ocean Studies Board at the National Academy of Sciences and the Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council. She was selected as an Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellow.
Dr. Targett was appointed as acting president by The University Board of Trustees at UD as of July 1, 2015.
DSU’s Dr. Renu Tripathi selected as delegate for conference
Delaware State University associate professor Renu Tripathi will be a delegate of the American Association for the Advancement of Science at the Gender Summit 8 North America 2016 conference in April in Mexico City.
The summit will explore topics such as equity in assessment of scientific merit, the research variable of human diversity, quantifying the socio-economic impact of gender in equality in science, policies for systemic and lasting change and the policy makers that will make them happen, as well as other areas.
Tripathi is a scientist with DSU’s Optical Science Center for Applied Research, where she is currently leading a research group that is developing a new generation of imaging laser radar systems, optical coherence tomography, and nanoparticle-based super-resolution imaging.
Prudential Annuities Masters Council taps Worthington
James Worthington, a financial professional in the Prudential Penn-Delmar Financial Group, was named a member of the Prudential Annuities Masters Council.
