WILMINGTON — In the latest fundraising cycle that was reported at the end of June, U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester raised $1.7 million in her campaign for the U.S. Senate, according to federal campaign records.

Her campaign for the U.S. Senate seat which will soon be vacated by U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Dems.) has now raised $6.9 million to date, which her campaign said continues to shatter records in Delaware for the most raised by a federal candidate ever at this point in the race.

“I want to say thank you to the Delawareans — the young people, the retirees, the neighbors, friends, and members of our community — that have been a part of building this campaign. It is your generosity that makes our fight for an even brighter future possible,” Blunt Rochester said in a prepared statement.

Blunt Rochester raised $1.7 million in the second quarter ending June 30 from close to 4,500 donors, ranging from Delawareans and politically-minded people from across the country.

More than 40% of her donations come from large individual contributions, totalling $2.9 million. However, she has also raised $1.1 million on small donations alone, or 15% of her funds raised.

Blunt Rochester has spent roughly half of what she has raised this election cycle and has $3.2 million cash left on hand.

“The Congresswoman’s record-breaking fundraising numbers reflect her overall approach to this race: continuing to tap into her deep ties to Delaware, uplifting her record of achievement in Congress, and underscoring what can be accomplished in the Senate,” Blunt Rochester campaign spokesperson Hanna Brasten Rumsey said. “We are grateful for the enthusiasm across the state and will work hard to ensure Democrats up and down the ballot and up and down the state will win this November.”

With the filing deadline passed for the race, Blunt Rochester faces no challenger for the Sept. 10 primary. Republican Eric Hansen, who has worked in leadership roles at Walmart, has raised $572,750 and had $369,797 cash on hand. Mike Katz, an independent who has pledged to to spend only his own funds, has raised $3,500 but has $216 left in his coffers.
